Georgia Relay to Exhibit at American Sign Language Expo
Event to Unite, Educate State’s Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Community

(ATLANTA – October 8, 2007) – Georgia Relay is pleased to announce that it will attend and exhibit at the American Sign Language (ASL) Expo in Atlanta on Saturday, October 20. The event, to be held at the Georgia International Convention Center between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., is free to the public and will include exhibitions, entertainment and seminars, as well as activities for children.

The ASL Expo tours 10 American cities annually, bringing a mix of entertainment, education and attractions to the deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing communities alike.

“We are very excited and very proud the ASL Expo has chosen to come to Atlanta,” said Michael Russell, Relay Administrator for the Georgia Public Service Commission. “This demonstrates recognition that Georgia’s deaf and hard-of-hearing community is sizeable, organized and active enough to bring one of the country’s premier events to our state.”

Deaf and hard-of-hearing Expo attendees will be able to learn about the latest technologies, new services that can provide assistance in both their personal and professional life and the history and evolution of ASL. Hearing people can begin to learn sign language, how to become an interpreter and how their businesses can improve communication with deaf customers.  In addition, there are numerous presentations, workshops and seminars on a wide variety of topics, ranging from finances and education to products and services. The day’s entertainment includes magicians and comedians (who tell jokes in American Sign Language!).

The Atlanta Expo is the seventh stop on the Expo’s tour this year. Other cities include Chicago, Pittsburgh, San Jose, CA and Louisville, KY.

GEORGIA RELAY TO EXHIBIT AT GACHI COMMUNITY HEALTH AND RESOURCES FAIR

(Atlanta, August 13, 2007) – Georgia Relay is pleased to announce it will host an exhibit booth at the first annual Community Health and Resources Fair, sponsored by GACHI, a Georgia organization serving the deaf and hard of hearing. The event, to be held Saturday, August 18 at the United Church of Christ in Atlanta from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is free to the public and will showcase numerous health-related exhibitions, entertainment and activities for children.

The Georgia Relay booth will focus on new technologies to help the state’s deaf community, as well as communications tools to facilitate better interaction between the deaf and hard of hearing community and the hearing world.

“We are very proud to participate in this important event,” said Dixie Ziegler, vice president of Hamilton Relay, the company that administers Georgia Relay. “GACHI is helping to inform and enlighten the community about a wide variety of health issues, and a healthier Georgia is important to everybody.”

Fair attendees will have the opportunity to have their hearing tested, learn about healthy lifestyles, meet with mental health councilors and nutritionists and participate in a wide variety of other activities designed to help them improve their health.  There will be free food, a moonbounce and door prizes given to attendees.

GEORGIA RELAY TO EXHIBIT AT GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF CONFERENCE
Relay Will Display New Technologies and Services, Raise Awareness

(Atlanta, May 7, 2007) – Georgia Relay announced today that they will attend and exhibit at the Georgia Association for the Deaf’s (GAD) 49th biennial conference in Savannah on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21. The conference, to be held at the DeSoto Hilton, will feature many educational exhibitions, entertainment and seminars. Convention attendees include parents and family members; youth from mainstream and residential education programs as well as colleges and universities; and administrators, educators, federal employees, support service providers, and manufacturers of products/services.

“We are very pleased and very proud to be a part of one of the state’s most important events for the deaf and hard of hearing community,” said Dixie Ziegler, vice president of Hamilton Relay, the company that administers Georgia Relay and is also a co-sponsor of the GAD conference. “The Georgia Association for the Deaf is nearing its 100th birthday and remains one of the most significant and influential organizations for the state’s deaf and hard-of-hearing community.”

Conference attendees who take the time to visit Georgia Relay’s booth will be able to learn about the organization’s latest cutting-edge technologies and new services. The exhibition floor is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Georgia Relay and Other Groups to Exhibit New Technologies and Services, Raise Awareness

(Atlanta, May 7, 2007) – Georgia Relay announced today that they will attend and exhibit at the DeafNation Expo in Atlanta on Saturday, May 12. The event, to be held at the Georgia International Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., is free to the public and will showcase exhibitions, entertainment and seminars, as well as activities for children.

DeafNation Expo, which started in 2003, annually tours 12 American cities, bringing its mix of entertainment, education and attractions to the deaf, hard of hearing and hearing communities alike. This year marks the Expo’s second consecutive stop in Atlanta, after last year’s very successful event.

“We are very pleased and very proud the DeafNation has chosen again to come to Atlanta,” said Dixie Ziegler, vice president of Hamilton Relay, the company that administers Georgia Relay. “This demonstrates recognition that Georgia’s deaf and hard-of-hearing community is not only sizeable enough and organized enough to merit a stop by one of the country’s premier events, but that we’ve succeeded in impressing the Expo’s organizers.”
