Helping
Georgians stay connected by telephone
By making telecommunication simple, dependable and convenient for people
who have difficulty using a standard phone, Georgia Relay makes a difference
in thousands of lives throughout our state every day. The service not
only ensures equal access to the phone system, but also has a positive
impact on our state's business and economic climate by enabling consumers
and businesses to stay connected by phone. And, as Georgia's senior adult
population continues to grow, so will the number of people who can take
advantage of state-of-the-art telecommunication technology through Georgia
Relay.
Who
provides the Georgia Relay?
The
Georgia Public Service Commission is responsible for the establishment,
implementation, administration and promotion of the Georgia Relay. At present, Georgia Relay services are provided by Hamilton Relay, as selected through
a competitive bidding process and under contract to the Commission. The
Georgia Relay is funded by a monthly surcharge on residential and business
telephone access lines in the state.
