VRS
(Video Relay Service)
VRS makes it possible for sign language users to communicate in their
native language via video conferencing. This feature requires a computer
with a high-speed Internet connection, Microsoft'sŪ Internet Explorer
Web browser and a compatible video camera, or a D-link videophone or another compatible videophone.
To use VRS:
1. Visit www.hamiltonrelay.com, Hamilton Relay’s Web site.
2. On the home page main menu, left, roll over "Internet-Based Relay." Another menu will appear. On that menu, roll over "Video Relay." Then, go to "Make A Call Now!" on the menu that appears and click.
3. Follow the prompts on the page that comes up. Or, if you need additional instructions, click on "How to use Hamilton VRS" or another of the options located on the menu, right.
4. You will then be connected to a Video Interpreter (VI) who will place
your call.
5. Position yourself so you are facing your Web camera or videophone and begin signing
your conversation. The VI will translate your sign language into spoken
language or text for the other party. When the other party responds, the
VI will translate his or her words back into sign language for you.
6. The conversation will continue back and forth between you and the other
person until you are ready to hang up.
